Members
Walter A. Brongiel
Director
Mr. Brongiel is one of seven children of a postal worker.
He was raised on the city’s south side, where he attended
the St. Rita parish, Morrill Grammar School and Lindblom Technical
High School. He then graduated from DeVry Electronics Institute.
Wally met his wife of 44 years, Joan, in high school. The
two have been blessed with three children: daughter Beverly
and Kelly and son Scott, who is vice president of Brongiel
Plumbing, Inc. Wally and Joan are the proud grandparents of
eight grandchildren.
Wally began his career after being hired by C.J. Erickson
Plumbing Co. He was initiated into Local 130 in 1965. After
leaving C.J. Erickson Plumbing Co., he worked for Clear Plumbing
and then decided to establish his own business, Brongiel Plumbing,
Inc.
Wally was a member of the Plumbing Contractors Association
board of directors for ten years. He is past president of
the Southside Plumbers Social Club and serves on the Legislative,
Nominations, By-Laws and PAC Fund Committee of the Plumbing
Council of Chicagoland. He is also a contractor trustee on
the Local 130 Pension Board and is a contractor representative
on the Joint Arbitration Board and the Labor Relations Committee
of the Plumbing Contractors Association.
