Maryville Academy

Maryville was established in 1883 – several years after the Great Chicago Fire and several epidemics that resulted in hundreds of homeless and orphaned children. Originally called St. Mary’s Training School for boys, it was a safe haven and an educator, providing these children with opportunities to learn a trade, receive an education and eventually become contributing, productive citizens.

Today Maryville is the largest residential child-care facility in the State of Illinois. A nationally recognized leader in the treatment of physically, sexually and emotionally abused and neglected children. Maryville annually serves children – both long and/or short term – at nine locations.
